Is it a good idea to allow anyone else to have authority to enter my safe deposit box? Yes, if you trust that person. Only people whom you have told the bank have authority to enter your box will be able to do so, and if valuable documents are needed, it may otherwise very difficult for that other person to access those documents. Naturally, you should select someone in whom you have unqualified trust and confidence. This topic should be discussed with your estate planning attorney.
