Is a Living Will a good idea? That document addresses one issue: should life support be terminated if you are (1) terminally ill or (2) permanently unconscious? Having a Living Will means that two doctors, not your family members, will decide if life support is ended. Whether or not you wish to involve your family in that decisions should be discussed at length with your estate planning attorney.
