What is Medicaid? It is a federally funded program, distributed by the states, that, among other things, pays for skilled nursing home care (and, to a limited degree, assisted living) for those who qualify due to physical condition, minimum income and asset levels. As a result, each state has adopted its own regulations for the distribution of these benefits. Accordingly, what you may read about Medicaid on the Internet may not apply to how Ohio will distribute Medicaid. Check with an experienced Elderlaw attorney regarding Ohio’s requirements.
