Who should keep the originals of my signed estate planning documents? You should, but they must be stored in a place of safe-keeping. A bank safe deposit box is the best place (they are no longer sealed by the bank when you pass away). Home “fireproof” safes are not the best: they are fire-retardant, not fireproof. Remember, there may be persons who will benefit if your original documents are NOT found. One more thing: make certain that the person who will be in charge of your affairs knows where the key to the safe deposit box is kept.
